Something about me and my familyThank you for reading my site, let me introduce myself, my name is Jim and I am a 76 year old widower, my wife, Mo, sadly passed on after a long battle with cancer in August 2005, she was my life and now I fill my days in with working on my allotments, carrying on providing organic food for our children Ruth, 26 and her three children, Billy,9, Rosie, 6, and Betty,3, our daughter Kate, 20, and my son, also my oldest daughter Suzanne, 49 and her fiancé Phil. Suzanne's children, Emilie, 28, Thomas, 25 and Jason, 21, live in different parts of he country and visit when they can, but always know where to find me if they turn up as a surprise and always expect 'granddads muddy food', as they called it when they stayed as young children, on their plates as I have always provided home grown food for as long as I can remember. I got my first allotment in Buckland Brewer when we moved there 7 years ago, 2 years ago I was approached by the Parish Council to take on a third as it was in an atrocious overgrown state, so I agreed despite my age, arthritis and diabetes. my son came up regularly to help me cut back the weeds, and we placed the chickens on it to get to the 'root' of the problem rather than weed killer. My youngest grandson, Billy, who is also a diabetic and has recently been diagnosed as epileptic, regularly keeps me company at the weekends, learning and developing a keen interest in the running of 'our' allotments, keeping up the family tradition in teaching my children how to grow their produce and maintain a healthy diet.
